WHO WE ARE
At Island Biological Consultants, we are driven by a passion for delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services that truly make a difference. Conceived on an island, our name reflects our commitment to conservation and sustainability, and since our founding, we’ve been proud to provide world-class expertise across a wide range of projects.
We specialise in terrestrial surveys, ecological flagging, ornithological services, marine services, Environmental Impact Assessments, and biosecurity expertise, among many more. Whether working on large-scale development projects or contributing to the protection of natural ecosystems, our goal is always the same: to provide honest, efficient solutions that lead to better outcomes for the environment. We believe that the better we do our job, the better the results for our planet.
Our clients include major authorities on giga projects in the Middle East, and as we expand our reach, we’re eager to support projects in development, sustainability, and conservation across the region. We’re proud of our successful work in the Middle East and look forward to continuing to make an impact in both the terrestrial and marine sectors, including exciting our newest ventures such as coral restoration.
At Island Biological Consultants, we care deeply about the work we do. Our approach is built on integrity, and we’re always focused on finding the most effective ways to protect our Earth.

WHAT WE OFFER

SEABIRD
SURVEYS
Our seabird surveys are an integral part of our work, providing detailed insights into seabird population dynamics. We estimate breeding numbers, assess breeding success rates, and track population changes over time. Using methodologies aligned with The Seabird Monitoring Handbook (JNCC 1995), we ensure our data is comparable with previous surveys, while modern tools such as drone technology enhance accuracy.

TERRESTRIAL BIRD
SURVEYS
We offer comprehensive bird surveys, including playback monitoring for nocturnal species such as owls and nightjars, as well as migratory bird surveys, raptor monitoring, and passerine assessments. These surveys help us understand breeding success, population dynamics, distribution, and habitat usage across various species. We provide critical data to support effective conservation strategies.

INVASIVE SPECIES
MANAGEMENT
We have extensive experience in managing invasive non-native species, including conducting large-scale eradications. Our team applies science-based methods to remove invasive species and prevent their return. We create biosecurity management plans and feasibility studies to ensure long-term ecosystem resilience and protect native species.

DATA
ANALYSIS
Our skilled data analysts use advanced software such as R, Python, and QGIS to analyse survey data, extracting meaningful insights that guide conservation actions.
Data-driven decision-making is essential to our approach, ensuring that every effort leads to tangible, positive outcomes for biodiversity.

ECOLOGICAL FLAGGING FOR EIA's
We support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA's) by providing ecological flagging services. This involves identifying key environmental factors that may be impacted by proposed developments, enabling proactive management strategies. Our in-depth ecological assessments ensure that developments proceed with minimal environmental disruption, aligning with sustainability goals.

MARINE
SERVICES
In addition to our terrestrial expertise, we have expanded into marine conservation, offering services such as coral fragmentation and restoration expertise, conducting marine surveys to monitor coral health, assess habitats, and support restoration efforts. Our team is skilled in underwater research and collaborates with global partners to address pressing marine issues.

TURTLE MONITORING
We provide specialised services for turtle monitoring and management, focusing on tracking and protecting nesting sites, monitoring hatchling success rates, and implementing strategies to mitigate human impact.
Our work supports the protection of vulnerable turtle populations across the
Middle East.

KNOWLEDGE
SHARING
We are committed to fostering long-term conservation success through knowledge sharing and capacity building. Our training programs, offered both in the field and online, equip students and conservation teams with the skills they need to play an active role in environmental protection and management.
